Community Participation
We run community participation events before, during and after our productions, building relationships between audiences and creatives to form a community around our work.
The Voice Behind Our Town
The Voice Behind Our Town is a a series of podcasts in which residents of Ferguslie Park in Paisley, talk about their community and the truth behind the headlines often associated with the area. It has been made by In Motion as part of our Other Side of the River project and is supported by Future Paisley, Renfrewshire Leisure, and Renfrewshire Council.

Utterly brilliant two days learning with Biff, and so much fun, laughter and song. Hope we get more of this. Thank you.

Online Dance Workshops
We are delighted to be working with Future Paisley to offer a series of recorded online Swing Dance sessions and live zoom workshops that build to form a short dance routine. Designed to keep your energy and spirit going, enable you to develop new skills and perhaps have the opportunity to be part of the community cast of our new play “Other Side of the River”.
How It Works
The sessions will be hosted by director and swing dance teacher of In Motion Theatre, Allie Butler, and will be short, fun and achievable! At the end of the sessions there will be an opportunity for you to share your routine on our social media platforms so we can see the faces behind those dance steps.
The workshops will run online with both recorded and live sessions once a week, starting on Tuesday 13th October until Tuesday 1st of December. The advantage of the recorded sessions is you can do these at your own pace over the week.
Online Song Writing Workshops
Once again working with Future Paisley, we are delighted to offer a series of short recorded online song writing sessions and live zoom workshops designed to help you create your own original songs.
Have you ever wanted to write a song but don’t know where to start? Join these sessions with Biff Smith of acclaimed band A New International to learn how it’s done. You don’t need an instrument just inspiration and the energy to give it a go!
Aims Of The Workshops
Through the sessions we can help to raise awareness and understanding of the creative process, where it may originate, and how it can be nurtured to an end point. We hope everyone takes away "something to carry with them", some new tools for building songs, some new colours to paint with, a new way of looking at the creative process which can also continue to be useful after the sessions are over.
So whether you have some experience, or are just beginning to explore your musical path, these workshops are for you. At the end of the sessions there will be an opportunity for you to share your song on our social media platforms if you want to.
We will be touring our new play “Other Side of the River” in 2021 and the hope is that some of the songs created in these sessions will be used as part of social events after each show.
How It Works

-
A live online group session.
